What’s Wrong With Black People?

April 4th, 2008

The trailer for our documentary film Meeting David Wilson shows a section of the film in which we ask a variety of Americans, “What’s wrong with Black people?” When I show the trailer to family, friends, or at the occasional investor meetings, I try to observe people’s reaction to this portion of the clip. Most respond with a sense of relief and thank us for asking a question that they have never had the courage or proper forum to ask. Then there are those who look at us with a bit of disdain and think that we are merely seeking shock value.

  • Special Encore Presentation of Meeting David Wilson Airs on MSNBC Saturday April 19, 1-4PM ET

Meeting David Wilson is a feature length documentary about the enduring legacy of slavery in today’s young black society.

David Wilson, a 28-year-old African-American journalist, journeys into his family’s past to find answers to America’s racial divide. Along the way he meets another David Wilson, the descendant of his family’s slave master. This discovery leads to a momentous encounter between these two men of the same name but whose ancestors were on the opposite sides of freedom. Through DNA testing, David determines his African roots and returns to his native land.
